German Rabbi, the first woman ever to be ordained as a rabbi. Regina Jonas' graduating thesis at the Higher Institute for Jewish Studies in Berlin was titled "Can a Woman Be a Rabbi?". She worked tirelessly to promote equality for women in the Jewish faith as well as fight for her own position as a Rabbi in the Reform Movement in Berlin. Rabbi Regina Jonas was killed in Auschwitz in October 1944.
